‘One engine of double-engine government has derailed’

Mangaluru: AICC president Mallikarjuna Kharge said that one engine of the double-engine government has already derailed due to the 40% commission taint. Kharge told reporters here on Tuesday, that the assembly election in Karnataka has much significance in the present situation, where people have doubts about the existence of democracy.
“In Karnataka, an opinion has already been created that no work is possible without paying a bribe, and it is possible only through 40% commission.While one engine of the double-engine government has already derailed, another will also be derailed soon,” he said, and sought to know if when it is 40% for the single-engine government, it will be 80% for the double-engine government.
“Contractors association, and grant-in-aid schools and colleges have complained in writing to the Prime Minister, President, governor and Lokayukta. People have decided to remove this corrupt government in Karnataka. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi always says ‘na khaunga, na khane dunga’, but here he is encouraging those who are corrupt,’’ Kharge accused.
The AICC chief also hit out at the BJP for poaching MLAs after the election. “They have already hijacked MLAs in Karnataka, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur and other places. They are bringing MLAs to their party, by threatening them in the name of income tax department, ED and CBI. Those MLAs become clean once they are put inside the washing machine of the BJP,” Kharge alleged.
Modi was silent even when people saw relatives of BJP MLAs getting caught accepting bribes after raids were conducted on MLAs. “After BJP came to power in the country, an atmosphere has been created where the very existence of democracy and the Constitution are at stake. In these circumstances, the assembly election in Karnataka has much significance. People are all set to remove the BJP from power, and thereby end corruption and price rise,” he added. AICC spokespersons Charan Singh Sapra, Shama Mohammed, and DCC president K Harish Kumar were present.
