MUMBAI: Complying with the Bombay high court directions to demolish unauthorised portions of Union minister of state
Narayan Rane’s eight-storeyed residence ‘Aadhish’ at Juhu, the owners of the building have commenced demolition of the unauthorised portions.
“The unauthorised portions are being demolished by the owners themselves, as per court directions. The owners of the building have been given time to remove the unauthorised portions by December 25.
We have to give a compliance report to the high court after demolition is complete,” said a BMC official.
The Supreme Court, in September this year, had dismissed a plea challenging a Bombay HC order directing the BMC to demolish the unauthorised portions.
The SC had refused to entertain an appeal filed by Kaalkaa Real Estates Pvt Ltd, a Rane family concern, which had applied for regularisation of illegal construction, and ordered that the unauthorised construction be removed in three months.
The order came just a week after Rane faced a setback from the HC, which had also imposed a cost of Rs 10 lakh on the company and directed for removal of the illegal structure within two weeks.
