MUMBAI: A freelance typist’s daughter is among the three students from Residential Coaching Institute (RCI), run by the Haj Committee of India at

Haj House

, who also cracked the Civil Services exams 2021, results of which were declared on Monday.

Mavis Tak

(All India Rank 386), Tahseen Banu Dawadi (482) and

Mohd Zaib Zakir Shaikh

(496) received intensive coaching and guidance at the Haj House where free residential coaching centre for IAS and allied services was started by Haj Committee’s former CEO

Mohammed Owais

in 2009.

Originally from Rajasthan, Tak graduated from Royal College in Mira Road before she did masters in Political Science from Mumbai University. She began preparing for the Civil Services Exams in 20019,, cleared it in third attempt and, apart from Haj House, also prepared for the IAS exams in Delhi.

“Haj House helped me to get exposed to an environment for studying and get in touch with resourceful seniors,” she said. She credits her father, a typist-cum-translator, for the inspiration. ” Today a good career must be a priority for every girl as financial independence is the key for equality in society,” she said.

Dawadi, from Hubli (Karnataka), is daughter of a retired railway employee. She cleared the UPSC exams in second attempt and when TOI called on Wednesday, she was in Delhi preparing for the next Prelims Exams scheduled to be held on June 5. “Students should not waste much time on social media but use it only when needed,” said Dawadi. Shaikh is already an old student of the Haj House and had cleared the UPSC exams earlier too (is currently an IPS officer).

Haj Committee’s CEO Mohd Yaqoob Sheikha said that all efforts are being made to keep the students motivated. Around 100 students prepare at Haj House for the UPSC exams every year.
