Search operation discontinued for missing Pune man who jumped into sea from Atal Setu
Navi Mumbai: The multi-agency search operation in the sea for Pune man Pratik Raskar (28), who jumped from Atal Setu on Sunday at 1.29 am, was discontinued after 42 hours, police said. The operation involved the Ulwe Police, maritime security forces, and specialised coastal police rescue teams.
A police officer said CCTV camera surveillance showed Raskar jumped into the sea at 1.30 am on Sunday, after which rescue teams were immediately summoned. The search operation was carried out continuously for 30 hours from past midnight till Sunday late evening, and then continued on Monday morning till sunset.
As Raskar was not found even after two days of searching over several nautical miles at sea, the search operation was discontinued, the officer said. Since no suicide note was found in Raskar’s SUV, which he halted on Atal Setu before jumping into the sea, prima facie his missing person complaint was lodged following a complaint by his brother-in-law, Dhiraj Jadhav (32), a transporter from Pune.
