Two Thane Sena MPs Honoured with Sansad Ratna Award 2026
Thane: Two Shiv Sena MPs from Thane district—Naresh Mhaske (Thane) and Dr. Shrikant Shinde (Kalyan)—have been selected for the Sansad Ratna Award 2026 for their performance in Parliament up to the Budget Session 2026. Both leaders have received the honour for the second consecutive year.
The announcement was made in New Delhi, where the duo is among five Maharashtra MPs chosen this year, along with Dr. Hemant Savara, Smita Wagh, and Dr. Medha Kulkarni to be conferred with this honour in New Delhi in July where the 150th Sansad Ratna Award will also be presented.
The awards recognise 10 Lok Sabha MPs, 2 Rajya Sabha MPs, and 4 Parliamentary Standing Committees based on their overall contribution in Parliament including attendance, participation in debates and questions raised.
A first-time MP, Mhaske, has been recognised for the second time for his active participation in the Parliament, especially on Union Budget discussions, policy issues, and public concerns. Party members highlighted his well-studied speeches and consistent presence in the Lok Sabha.
Reacting to the honour, Mhaske credited the recognition to Sena chief and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his colleague MP Dr Shinde and dedicated the recognition to voters and party workers.
MP Dr. Shinde has also been selected for the second consecutive year for his discussions and participation in key national issues including infrastructure, healthcare, railways, and those related to development of his Kalyan LS constituency. A colleague said he has introduced six Private Members’ Bills and was among the chosen few to lead an all-party parliamentary delegation abroad following Operation Sindoor, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Dr Shinde said he is honoured for the recognition and would continue to excel his parliamentary performance and raise people-centric issues and present insightful contributions in the House
