Despite the ongoing pandemic and societal upheavals , there are

social activists

across the city, who are incessantly working towards helping others.

On the occasion of Friendship Day today,

activist Chinu Kwatra

, his team, and Manoj Gholap and his team, initiated a unique way to celebrate the day.

Giving details about the initiative, he told Bombay Times, “We thought of gifting trees to farmers in villages near Murbad, which will instil hope in them and help them to live a better future. We extended our hands of friendship with 50 farmers of

Murbad

villages and gave them a special tree kit.”

Due to the travel guidelines set by the government, Chinu and his team of zealous social workers could not be physically present at the location, so they arranged for another team to actually distribute their unique tree kits on Friendship Day. Each tree kit, given out by them, contained two

mango saplings

, one sitafal (custard apple) and one chikoo sapling.

Chinu, who has been working for the betterment of the society for quite a few years now, has spearheaded many successful social activities. Among the many projects he has undertaken, include cleaning beaches across Mumbai, providing free food to the underprivileged, working towards women empowerment and educating underprivileged children (
