Mysuru gears up for International Yoga Day with 1.2 lakh participant target
Mysuru: Known as the state’s yoga hub, Mysuru is gearing up to celebrate the 12th International Day of Yoga on June 21. On Sunday morning, yoga organisations, teachers, and practitioners came together to observe Sankalp Divas. During the meeting, participants decided to work collectively to increase public participation by encouraging yoga practice across the city.
This year’s theme is ‘Yoga for Wellness, Wisdom, and World Peace’. It was also decided to observe Maha Sankalp Divas on May 31 in front of the Mysore Palace, where the protocol yoga will be performed en masse.
Organisations and yoga instructors have been urged to reach out to more people and institutions in the run-up to IDY 2026. The city plans to host yoga sessions at 120 venues, with trainers encouraged to begin protocol yoga sessions for their students.
