CAIT draws govt attention to piling litigations over cheque dishonour

Nagpur: Confederation of All India Traders (

CAIT

) in a communication sent to Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman has drawn the attention of government over rapid increase in number of dishonoured cheques.

Traders of the country are perturbed over frequent instances of cheque dishonouring and the long time it takes to get justice after that. CAIT has suggested for setting up of fast track courts to deal with

cases.

Report which says that about 40 lakh cheque bounces cases are being heard in the courts. This makes it clear that the single category of cases constitute a major portion of all pending litigation in the judicial system, said the CAIT letter.

A Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel observed on June 20, 2018, that more than 20% of the cases in subordinate cases were related to cheque dishonour, says the CAIT letter.
