‘Hum do, humare do’ won’t save Hindus, 4 children needed: Swami Rambhadracharya
Nagpur: Declaring the slogan ‘Hum do, humare do' inadequate for Hindus, Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Swami Rambhadracharya Maharaj, a Padma Vibhushan recipient, said Hindus must have at least four children to safeguard religion, culture, and civilisation. He was speaking during his Ramkatha here on Saturday.Questioning the population norm, he remarked, "Hum do, humare do aur Bangladeshi aane do? Aisa kaise hoga?" (If we stop at two children and allow Bangladeshis to come, how will it work?)
Addressing a massive gathering at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (Kacchi Visa) Maidan in Lakadganj, the spiritual leader also called on Hindus to unite, stating that repeated "apmaan" (humiliation) of the community could no longer be ignored, hinting at persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh.Referring to historical events of Aurangzeb, he said repeated attempts were made by invaders to destroy temples, but the faith endured. He cited the Pandharpur Vitthal temple and Bhagwati temple in the north, stating that despite destruction, traditions survived for centuries. Mentioning the Ram Janmabhoomi episode, he said that although Mir Baqi demolished the structure on Babur's orders, Ram Lalla remained protected, and justice prevailed. He also referred to an anonymous devotee donating a statue worth Rs 30 crore even after the Ram temple's completion.Swami Rambhadracharya expressed concern over what he described as the declining standard of religious discourses, stating that Ram and Krishna kathas were increasingly narrated by people lacking basic knowledge of Sanskrit. "India stands on two pillars — Sanskrit and Sankriti (culture). Without understanding Sanskrit, one cannot fully grasp our tradition," he said.Announcing plans to establish a gurukul at Tulsi Peeth in Chitrakoot on March 26, Swami Ji said the institution would focus on shaping responsible citizens rooted in Indian values.Speaking on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Swami Rambhadracharya said the organisation founded by Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar grew from a sapling into a mammoth tree. He said Nagpur emerged as a central hub of Hindu thought, with lakhs of swayamsevaks moving from door to door to strengthen social and cultural values. He credited the second RSS chief M S Golwalkar for expanding the organisation and referred to ‘vasudhaiva kutumbakam' as a core Hindu concept.Union minister Nitin Gadkari, who attended the event on Saturday, also performed aarti of Lord Ram. Swami Rambhadracharya praised Gadkari, stating he transformed India's road infrastructure.
