The NMC, however, took possession of three properties. Following non-payment of tax of Rs98,763, the zone office invited bidders for the auction. “As no bidder turned up, the zone officer took possession of the premises in the name of NMC commissioner by declaring the property purchased for a token Re1,” said assistant municipal commissioner of the zone Ashok Patil.
