Audi murder: 2 more held; had disposed of pistol used for crime

Navi Mumbai: Panvel taluka police have arrested two more accused for their involvement in the murder of a car dealer-cum-estate agent Sanjay Karle (44), whose body was found with bullet injuries in an Audi car on the Mumbai-Goa highway in Panvel taluka on November 18 last year, reports George Mendonca. The duo — Sushil Dharma (33) and Rohit Kanetkar (35) — both residents of Karanjade village in Panvel, were arrested a fortnight ago for disposing of the pistol used by key accused Mohsin Mulani (37) and Ankit Kamble (29) to murder Karle in his Audi car. Police said after the crime branch unit-2 team arrested Mulani and Kamble in January, they had cooked up a story that the pistol belonged to Karle and that after an argument in his Audi car, Karle had pointed the pistol at them and in defence Mulani snatched the pistol and shot dead Karle.Senior inspector Anil Patil of Panvel taluka said, “Mulani and Kamble had paid Dharma and Kanetkar for disposing of the pistol used to murder Karle. During their interrogation in police custody, it was learnt that the pistol used for killing Karle was actually purchased illegally by Mulani and Kamble. The accused Dharma and Kanetkar are presently in jail custody in Taloja.” Police said Mulani has serious offences registered against him in the past, including of rape, extortion, kidnapping and possession of a firearm at various police stations. Kanetkar is a historysheeter too, as a cheating case is registered against at a police station in Mumbai.
