Dozen relatives of 2 murder convicts attack police escorts

NAVI MUMBAI: Five cops escorting two undertrials were attacked allegedly by the undertrials' 12 relatives in Goregaon on Tuesday. Six relatives of the murder accused, including two women, were arrested. The police said they were taking Tabrez Khan (45) and Salim Siddiqui (35)-accused of killing a guard at Powai Lake last year-back to jail from Dindoshi sessions court when their relatives wanted to meet the two, said senior police inspector Anil Pophale.As the police denied permission, the relatives blocked the police vehicle with their bikes while the undertrials started banging their heads inside the cop van. -George Mendonca
