NAVI MUMBAI: Despite the incessant rain in the morning, the city witnessed a large gathering of people at various venues to commemorate the
International Yoga Day.
Over 5,000 people across all age groups from parts of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane gathered at the Cidco exhibition centre, including students from St Xaviers’ School and S S High School along with many differently abled children.
The event was inaugurated by Belapur MLA, Manda Mhatre in the presence of Cidco MD Sanjay Bhatia and other guests.
“Yoga has no religion, no language and gender. Yoga is one of the most used methods in the mind-body connection.” said octogenarian yoga expert Nimbalkar.
Art of Living took the lead by conducting a suryanamaskar session and Divya Patanjali Yogpeeth conducted an hour’s session specially for the Navi Mumbai Police. Kharghar Social and Cultural Association, Nature Cure and Yoga Centre together held a yoga session at Central Park. Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai goup of Institutions also conducted yoga sessions for underprivileged women. NCC of Thane and Navi Mumbai als held yoga sessions for the locals at Airoli.
