3 injured in firing at Holi event in Nalanda, 16 held

Patna: Three people, including a social media influencer, were injured in a firing and stone pelting incident during a Holi Milan event at Nakatpura village under Bihar police station area in Nalanda district on Sunday.

Police said the incident occurred at a water park where a Bhojpuri singer was performing. A clash broke out between his bodyguards, bouncers and local visitors. Sixteen people, including the singer, were arrested. Others involved are being identified. The arrested singer has been identified as Roshan Rohi, police said.


Sadar SDPO-I Nurul Haq said social media influencer Rishikesh, a 19-year-old youth Subelal Kumar, and a vehicle driver suffered injuries. All are undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital and are stated to be out of danger. He added that the event was unauthorised and no licence had been obtained.

The SDPO confirmed that firing was carried out by the singer’s bouncers and private security personnel of some guests. Police recovered four weapons from the spot and seized three damaged vehicles.

Rishikesh said he had reached the water park on an invitation to attend the Holi Milan event. “As soon as I arrived, there was chaos and firing started from the road itself. When I took out my cellphone to record a video, local people and bouncers attacked me. They snatched both my phones and pelted stones. I heard 15–20 rounds of firing,” he said.

The SDPO said all arrested persons, including the Bhojpuri singer, will be sent to jail after being produced in court. “Several rounds appear to have been fired in the air. Subelal seems to have received a bullet injury in the leg,” he added.
