Patna: A total of 41 electric crematoriums will be built in all district headquarters and important river ghats, the state govt has decided under its ‘Saat Nischay Part-II'.
According to a press release from the urban development and housing department, the construction of crematoriums has been approved for 38 district headquarters and three other important river ghats, with an estimated cost of over Rs 248 crore in the first phase.
Jivesh Kumar, minister of urban development and housing department, on Monday said, "The electric crematoriums will help in keeping rivers clean and prevent air pollution, besides dealing with the problem of sanitation.".
Abhay Kumar Singh, secretary of the department, said that out of the total 41, work at Supaul, Jehanabad and Arwal has been completed. "Work on 36 is in progress, and tenders have been published for two new crematoriums at Barh and Jhanjharpur nagar parishad," he said.
