Centre assures support for state’s education reforms
Patna: Education minister Mithilesh Tiwari on Tuesday met Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi and apprised him of Bihar’s ongoing education reforms and upcoming initiatives aimed at strengthening the state’s education system.
During the meeting, Mithilesh said that under the state govt’s 7 Nischay-3 programme and the vision of ‘Unnat Shiksha-Ujjawal Bhavishya’, Bihar has decided to develop 695 schools as Saraswati Vidya Niketan (Model Schools).
The initiative covers all district schools, one higher secondary school in each block, taking the total to 540 institutions, along with the upgradation of 155 existing govt and govt-aided schools.
Mithilesh said the move reflects the govt’s commitment to providing quality education to every child and establishing Bihar as a model state in the education sector.
He also outlined plans to modernise educational infrastructure across the state. Under the initiative, vocational laboratories will be established in 1,068 schools for students of Classes IX to XII.
In addition, 2,577 information and communication technology (ICT) laboratories and 25,220 smart classrooms will be set up to strengthen digital and technology-enabled learning.
Mithilesh said the proposed measures are in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 and are aimed at equipping students with modern skills and learning opportunities.
Pradhan appreciated the state’s efforts to improve educational infrastructure and learning outcomes and assured full support from the Centre for the implementation of the proposed initiatives.
