PATNA: Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) is all set to launch senior JD(U) leader and Bihar’s rural works minister Ashok Kumar Choudhary’s daughter Shambhavi K Choudhary into electoral politics.
Chirag has decided to field Shambhavi as his party’s candidate from Samastipur (SC) Lok Sabha seat, sources in the LJP(RV) told TOI on Friday.
The name of Shambhavi has been finalized for Samastipur seat. A formal announcement would be made in a day or two, a senior LJP (RV) leader said.
Samastipur is one of the five seats which have been allotted to the LJP (RV) as part of the seat-sharing among the NDA allies.
Shambhavi is the daughter-in-law of former IPS officer and secretary of the Patna-based Mahavir Mandir Trust Kishore Kunal. She married to Kunal’s son Sayan Kunal. She is currently director of the Gyan Niketan School.
Insiders in the LJP(RV) said, Shambhavi’s husband Sayan had recently met Chirag in Delhi. After their meeting, Chirag had decided to field Shambhavi either from Jamui (SC) or Samastipur (SC) seat. Later, Chirag decided to field his brother-in-law (sister’s husband) Arun Bharti from Jamui seat. Bharti recently filed nomination papers as the LJP (RV) candidate from Jamui which is going to the polls in the first phase on April 19.
Shambhavi’s grandfather Mahavir Choudhary was cabinet minister in the previous Congress governments in the state.
Sources in the LJP (RV) said, Chirag has also finalized candidates for Vaishali and Khagaria seats. He may repeat sitting MP Veena Singh from Vaishali while Rajesh Verma, former deputy mayor of Bhagalpur, may be fielded from Khagaria seat.
