CM for AI-driven governance & faster grievance redressal
Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Saturday announced that the state govt would soon introduce an artificial intelligence (AI) policy as part of a broader road map to develop Bihar into a major AI hub.
Addressing the inaugural session of the “Bihar AI Summit 2026” at Urja Auditorium in Patna, Samrat said AI would play a central role in improving governance, enhancing transparency and accelerating Bihar’s development.
“Bihar will continue to work towards becoming an AI hub, and the govt will soon bring an AI policy. Through AI, Bihar will emerge among the country’s leading developed states,” he said.
Samrat urged all departments of the state govt to maximise the use of AI in welfare schemes and public service delivery. Referring to the ongoing “Sahyog Shivirs” grievance redressal camps, he said AI-based systems could significantly speed up the disposal of public complaints.
He reiterated that complaints received at Sahyog Shivirs must be resolved within 30 days and warned that any officer failing to address a complaint within the deadline would face suspension on the 31st day by the Chief Minister’s Office.
Calling AI an integral part of modern life, Samrat said nearly 120 crore people use cellphones in the country and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for transforming India’s communication landscape. He added AI would play a decisive role in shaping the country’s future.
The CM also credited former chief minister Nitish Kumar for strengthening Bihar’s infrastructure and public services, and said the next phase of development would focus on technology-driven growth and prosperity.
Samrat announced that the proposed 125-km Ganga Expressway project, estimated at Rs 30,000 crore, would be completed within three years under the public-private partnership model.
He also said Vikramshila University would be revived during the current financial year and degree colleges would begin functioning in 211 blocks from July.
Model schools would be set up across all 534 blocks, including 10 in Patna and five each in municipal corporation towns such as Gaya, Biharsharif, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Hajipur and Chhapra.
Appealing to migrant Biharis to contribute to the state’s growth, Samrat said the govt was focused on creating employment opportunities within Bihar to reduce distress migration. He added the state was working towards generating 20,000MW of electricity with support from the Centre to ensure uninterrupted power supply for industries and investment.
