Patna: A farmer who was recently honoured by former chief minister
Nitish Kumar was shot dead by unidentified criminals in broad daylight in Muzaffarpur on Tuesday.
The deceased, Hareram Chaudhary alias Raju Chaudhary (45), was attacked at his grocery shop in Salhan village under Bochaha police station limits around noon.
According to police, three motorcycle-borne criminals entered the shop posing as customers and suddenly opened fire on him before fleeing the spot.
Rural SP Rajesh Singh Prabhakar said police have launched an investigation into the murder. A special team has been formed to identify and arrest the accused, while CCTV footage from the area is being examined.

Police said the team had gone to arrest
Ajay Rai, an accused in multiple cases, when locals surrounded the officers and pelted them with stones. A police vehicle was also damaged in the attack. The injured personnel were initially taken to Paru Community Health Centre and later referred to Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) for treatment.
Police have arrested five accused in connection with the incident and registered an FIR against named and unidentified persons.
Saraiya sub-divisional police officer Abhijeet Kaur said strict action would be taken against those involved in attacking police personnel and obstructing govt work.
