Govt launches portal to connect Bihar diaspora

Patna: The state govt on Tuesday launched a digital platform aimed at strengthening the participation of people of Bihar origin living across India and abroad in the state’s development.Launching the portal at Technology Bhavan, information technology minister Nitish Mishra said the platform would connect the Bihari diaspora with opportunities related to investment, employment, startups, education and development initiatives in Bihar.“People of Bihar origin will be able to register online on this platform. During registration, they will share details about their work, experience, and expertise. Based on this information, they will be linked to various state govt schemes and programs,” he said.The portal offers three modes of participation. Under the ‘changemaker’ category, users can share ideas, innovations, expertise and policy suggestions for Bihar’s development. The ‘volunteer’ section enables people to contribute to social, developmental and technical initiatives across the state.The third category, ‘investment’, is aimed at entrepreneurs, investors and businesses interested in setting up industries, creating jobs and expanding economic activity in Bihar.Nitish said lakhs of people of Bihar origin are working in different sectors across the country and around the world, making significant contributions in industries, technology, education, medicine and research.
“Many are making significant contributions in fields such as major industries, technology companies, education, medicine, and research. The state govt aims to harness their experience and knowledge for the benefit of Bihar. This digital platform has been created with that very objective,” he told the media.The minister said members of the diaspora interested in investing or establishing industries in Bihar would receive the necessary information and support through the platform.“The govt believes this will lead to the establishment of new industries, create more employment opportunities, and strengthen the state’s economic growth,” he said.He added that the initiative would benefit students, aspiring startup founders and entrepreneurs by facilitating collaboration in education, technology, skill development and innovation. Bihar-based startups will also be able to connect with experts and investors from India and abroad to help expand their businesses.
