NEW DELHI: Saurabh Kumar, a young Janata Dal United (JDU) leader, was shot dead in Patna, Bihar on Wednesday night.
According to reports, the incident occurred as Kumar was coming back from a wedding celebration, accompanied by his friends and family.
On JDU leader Saurabh Kumar shot dead, SDPO Masaurhi Kanhaiya Singh says, "...Saurabh Kumar came with his friends to attend a reception function. While returning he was shot by unknown miscreants, then he was taken to hospital and one other person named Munmun Kumar also sustained injuries. They were taken to Kankarbagh Uma hospital, however, by then Saurabh Kumar died; we are examining the matter."
Four attackers riding a motorcycle fired shots at Kumar late in the night. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and authorities have launched an investigation.
