NEW DELHI: RJD's Bihar general secretary, Pankaj Yadav was allegedly shot by unidentified bike-borne assailants in Munger district on Thursday.
The incident occurred while Pankaj was out for his morning walk. He has since been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Police have launched a probe into the shooting, conducting raids to arrest the suspects.
"A bullet struck him near his heart on the left side. One bullet has been retrieved, and he is currently stable. Everything is under control, and the latest reports indicate that he is doing fine," Dr Prashant Tripathi, from Munger National Hospital, said.
"It has come to our notice that one Sawan Yadav, who has a criminal history, is involved in the incident, and we are gathering information regarding his connections and past criminal activities," said sub-divisional police officer Rajesh Kumar.
