Patna: RJD national working president
Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Tuesday criticised the state govt over the downgrading of security provided to his parents and the directive asking former chief minister Rabri Devi to vacate her official residence at 10, Circular Road.
Speaking to reporters upon his arrival in Patna from Delhi along with his father
Lalu Prasad, who had travelled to Singapore for a medical check-up, Tejashwi questioned the rationale behind the move.
“There has been no change in the status of Rabri Devi post 2005. She had been allotted the bungalow in her capacity as a former CM. Can that status change? And what is the fuss about a separate house having been allotted to me? I am the leader of the opposition. Is the ruling dispensation doing me a favour?” Tejashwi said.
“Then why her bungalow is being snatched? Why not my bungalow was taken to hand over the BJP minister?” he asked.
Tejashwi alleged that the state govt was focusing on political issues instead of addressing matters related to development and public welfare. He also raised concerns over inflation, fuel prices, unemployment and the law-and-order situation.
Alleging that the move was intended to divert attention from more pressing issues, he claimed that salaries and pensions were being delayed because “khazana khali hai” (coffer is empty).
“The NDA govt is prioritising non-essential issues like housing and security to divert attention from burning public problems and its policy failures, to mislead and deceive. After all, what will the public gain from these issues?” he said.
Tejashwi said neither security nor accommodation was a major concern for his family and thanked party workers for their support.
He also urged the govt to take action in the Muzaffarpur Balika Grih case and the Srijan scam, and expressed concern over what he described as a deteriorating law-and-order situation in the state.
Tejashwi returned to Patna after nearly a fortnight in Delhi, where he attended the INDIA bloc meeting on Monday. He was accompanied by Lalu Prasad and his elder sister Misa Bharti.
