Covid-19 lockdown: App launched to provide meals for elderly people staying alone

PUDUCHERRY: Food discovery application Hopsticks has launched a community

app

called 'Hop N Help' inviting volunteers to provide food to aged people living alone or doctors or students from other cities, who don't have means to cook their own food during the

lockdown

.

Volunteers can register themselves as a 'provider' if they can afford to make an extra meal along with theirs and the app will ensure that the food reaches the needy. People can also request a meal through the app if they are unable to cook due to genuine reasons. The app will find some provider with a kind heart in their neighbourhood who can supply them food.

People can visit https://bit.ly/HopPondy to download and register themselves as a service provider or seeker. People can also charge nominally for a meal, said Krishna Prathap who launched the community app.

People can visit https://youtu.be/f-sJPXW5S_o and https://youtu.be/bPQTrHw3tZg to watch the videos on the objectives of launching the app and how to use the app respectively.

"Hop N Help is a social community support app build to support people in need in your local community. There are many people around you who are struggling to have one good meal a day because of the lockdown. While the government, other social welfare organisations have taken initiatives to provide free food to the homeless, road dwellers and people who can't afford a meal, there is a whole bunch of people like students from other cities, bachelors who are staying alone and more importantly old age people who are not physically fit to prepare all three

meals

in a day. Hop N Help aims at supporting these people as a community and providing meals to people in need in their areas. It is a social initiative by Hopsticks," said Krishna Prathab.
