House-listing work 85% complete in state, efforts on to finish rest before June 14

Pune: House-listing operations for Census 2027 are nearly 85% complete across the state with state authorities directing district collectors, municipal commissioners and census officers to expedite the remaining work and ensure timely completion of the exercise at a review meeting ahead of the June 14 deadline.Four jurisdictions, Sindhudurg district, Dhule Municipal Corporation, Ahilyanagar Municipal Corporation and Jalna district, have already achieved 100% completion of house-listing operations.“Census officials from these districts and corporations have submitted the details of completing the activity. The other districts have to finish their work,’’ a senior official said.Officials have been told to conduct revisits in enumeration blocks reporting a high number of locked houses so that no households are left out. Enumerators have been directed to regularly synchronise data collected through the census application immediately after completing fieldwork to avoid delays in data consolidation.Supervisors have also been instructed to ensure that enumerators complete the blocks assigned to them within stipulated timelines. Charge officers across districts have been directed to ensure the safety and security of census functionaries during field operations. Officials said efforts are being intensified across districts to complete the remaining 15% of the work in the coming days.
