: An alleged molester, released on bail a few days ago, slashed the survivor's face savagely in
Chhattisgarh
's
Korba district
on Saturday even as a bunch of people took videos of the attack. She is critically injured and fighting for life in hospital.
In terror, she ran about screaming for help but most passersby immediately pulled out cellphones and started taking videos of the gruesome scene.
The attack - and the video shoot -- went on for several minutes before some people had the sense and courage to intervene.
The gory video has already been shared on social media. It happened a day after the Unnao rape survivor was stabbed and burned while on her way to court.
They overpowered the accused, 40-year-old Indrapal Tonde, and handed him to police. He has been booked for attempted murder.
Durgesh Sharma, inspector in charge of the case, said that Tonde had been stalking the woman ever since she separated from her husband. He tried to force her to marry him, but she refused every time.
Tonde even moved to a house close to her's, began harassing her and even took a video of hers without her knowledge, police say. When the woman came to know of this, she went to police and Tonde was arrested.
He spent a few months behind bars and got bail a few days ago. On Saturday, he attacked the woman in full public view.
She ran about 300 metres, chased by Tonde who kept hacking at her. For several minutes, passersby either stood and watched or took videos of it. Finally, some men mustered courage to challenge the attacker.
