Gold, silver ornaments worth Rs 4cr seized from bus

Palanpur: Sirohi police seized gold and silver jewellery worth approximately Rs 4 crore from a private bus going to Pune from Jodhpur at the Maval checkpoint under RIICO Police Station, Abu Road.

During the search, police recovered large quantities of gold and silver ornaments concealed in three separate bags carried by three passengers. The seized haul included approximately 2.8kg of gold and 800g of silver, all allegedly transported without valid bills or supporting documents.

The checking is being conducted under a driver against drug trafficking, hawala transactions and other illegal activities.

Police arrested Ramesh Kumar (53), Gajendra Singh (32), both residents of Sirohi, and Chandlu Lal, 50, residing in Ahmedabad.

Preliminary investigation suggests possible involvement in illegal bullion transportation and hawala-linked financial activity. Further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended destination of the seized jewellery.
