16-yr-old drowns while taking selfie in East Singhbhum

JAMSHEDPUR: A 16-year-old boy of Golpahari under Parsudih police station area drowned in a river in East Singhbhum on Wednesday when he was clicking selfies with his friends, police said.

Police said Vikrant Soni along with his younger brother and four friends went to the Kharkhai river’s Baroda Ghat in Bagbeda police station area of Jamshedpur.

When clicking selfies, he slipped into the river and the strong currents swept him away. His friends panicked and ran away. His brother too started to drown, trying to save him. The locals rescued him. Vikrant’s body was fished out by divers two hours later, an officer said.
