Bokaro: District police on Friday a man wanted for carrying out several burglaries across the city ahead of Chhath festivities. The accused Sunil Ram was known for breaking into locked houses and evaded arrest for several years by fleeing to other states to avoid police net. “Sunil Ram has over 10 cases of theft and burglary registered against him across several police stations, including Sector-4, BS City, Sector-12, Balidih, Chandrapura, and Dugda police station,” Bokaro SP Harvinder Singh.
With the Chhath festival approaching and many residents going to their native places, police authorities feared an increase in thefts from closed homes. To prevent such incidents, a special task force was deployed to monitor vulnerable areas. Acting on a tip-off, Sector-4 police arrested Sunil, successfully thwarting his plan to commit another burglary.

“The accused was absconding for a long time and was planning another theft during Chhath, but before he committed it, our team arrested him,” Singh said. The police have urged citizens to remain vigilant during the festival season and report any suspicious activity to prevent crime.
