Hazaribag MP gifts lathis to akharas ahead of Ram Navami
Hazaribag: Ahead of the upcoming Ram Navami, Hazaribag MP Manish Jaiswal handed over lathis to the akharas in the city. Lathi displays are form an integral part of the Ram Navami processions which are taken out in the city.On Saturday, Jaiswal handed over lathis to 100 representatives of 100 akharas at his office. “The campaign aims to restore the traditional form of Ram Navami celebrations in Hazaribag by promoting displays of physical and martial skills by akhara groups. The aim is to revive the rich tradition and younger generations to learn traditional weapon-based martial arts through akharas,” he said.Jaiswal added that he has been continuing this initiative for the past few years and is targeting to reach over 3,000 akhara members across the Hazaribag Lok Sabha constituency this year.“Hazaribag’s Ram Navami is known for its grand processions and traditional performances. This campaign is to ensure that legacy remains visible,” he said.
