Jamshedpur: Thirteen days after he was allegedly kidnapped, Kairav Gandhi (24), the son of a Jamshedpur-based industrialist, was found in Hazaribag along the Bihar border on Tuesday and returned to his family.East Singhbhum SSP Piyush Pandey said the kidnappers let Kairav on the Chauparan-Barhi stretch on the Grand Trunk Road on the Hazaribag-Bihar border in the early hours of Tuesday while shifting him to another hideout. “Kidnappers were shifting Kairav elsewhere, but due to mounting pressure and heightened surveillance on the stretch, they abandoned him midway and fled,” Pandey said.

The SSP said that earlier on Monday, police received intelligence about the kidnappers’ plan to move him to another location and, acting on the input, increased monitoring on the GT Road. “Perhaps the kidnappers got wind of our action and they abandoned him midway,” Pandey said.A resident of C H Area, Kairav went missing from the Kadma-Sonari link road while he was on his way to his factory in the adjoining Adityapur industrial area on January 13.The police, however, did not divulge further details. “We have found clues and are working on them. It is just a matter of time before the criminals are nabbed,” Pandey said.
Kairav, Pandey said, is providing information that will help arrest the kidnappers. “The kidnappers did not torture the youth, as he was mentally and physically fit,” Pandey said.Kairav’s father Devan had claimed that kidnappers had demanded Rs 5 crore in a call which originated in Indonesia on Jan 13. Pandey claimed that the police did not have any information about the ransom call. “The amount of money demanded from Kairav’s father as ransom was a matter between the kidnappers and his family. Police have no information on record about the ransom demand,” the SSP said.
