Loan scam: 20 cheat private bank of ₹92L with fake salary slips, statements

Surat: A leading private sector bank has filed an FIR with Umra police station against 20 persons who have allegedly cheated the bank of Rs 92 lakh. According to the complaint, the accused have provided fake salary slips and bank statements to secure loans from HDFC. Police have booked 17 loanees and three other persons for helping these accused in this loan scam.

Bank have also raised doubts against the verification agency work in the FIR.Ashok Piprodiya, who works as a area investigation manager with HDFC Bank and based out of Surat, is responsible to find frauds in loan and credit transactions. During investigation, he found some dubious loans secured between August 6 and November 11, 2022. Investigation revealed that there were 17 loans worth Rs 92 lakh which were taken on fake salary slips and bank statements. The bank had come up with an app – Loan Assist – Quick Bank Loans – through which people get easy loans by uploading their documents like salary slips, bank statements, Aadhaar cards among others. All 17 loan applicants had taken loans through this app as the bank DSA have helped the applicants in some cases. Some of the borrowers work in reputed companies which need to be investigated. As bank have outsourced verification work to Simran Management Services and VD Dadinath & Associates, the bank also raised doubts that staffers from these agencies may have played a role in the scam. Umra police filed a case under IPC 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120B and 34 against 20 accused. The investigation has been transferred to economic offences prevention wing of Surat police. The 20 accused include Pankaj Singh, Diraj Pandey, Dipak Gupta, Durgesh Rao, Rakesh Yadav, Mukesh Chaudhary, Pruthvi Singh Rathod, Malek Sufiyan, Dukhiram, Dharmendra Kumar Satdev, Navlesh Kumar Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Abusad Javed Khan, Divakar Kumar Singh, Ram Swaroop, Mukesh Kumar, Prince Kumar, Uday Moliya, Akshay Ranpariya, and Prince Kumar.
