TRICHY: Almost all the roads in Pudukkottai district that were blocked by trees fallen during
cyclone Gaja have been cleared, Tamil Nadu health minister C Vijaya Baskar said on Wednesday. He said removal of fallen trees from the roads has ensured that relief material is supplied to the cyclone-affected areas.
Most of the roadside trees in the district were fallen in the cyclone, obstructing traffic.

He said the focus was now on restoring power supply.
A total 4,500 workers from within and outside the state are engaged in restoring electric poles and other power infrastructure in the district.
“Power supply will be restored up to 90% in Pudukkottai town by Wednesday evening,” said the minister adding that power supply had been restored in 70% of areas in Pudukkottai and Aranthangi municipality areas. Power had been restored in 70% of areas in town panchayats.
