One dead, two injured as bike rams TNSTC bus
Trichy: A motorcyclist lost his life and two pillion riders were injured after their two-wheeler collided with a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corportion (TNSTC) bus near Trichy bus stand on Thursday.The deceased was identified as C Maruthamuthu, 35, from Iluppur near Viralimalai in Pudukottai district. On Thursday evening, he was riding his motorcycle near Kalaignar Karunanidhi Integrated Bus Terminus, with his friends Palaniswami and Balasubramanian riding pillion.According to sources, a government mofussil bus was heading from Aranthangi to Trichy. As it approached the bus stand, the trio collided with the bus coming from the opposite direction.Maruthamuthu suffered a severe head injury and was rushed to Trichy government hospital for treatment. But doctors declared him dead on arrival. Palanisamy and Balasubramanian suffered minor injuries and were treated at the hospital.Traffic police (south) have registered a case under sections 281, 125(a), and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash driving, endangering lives, and causing death by negligence.An autopsy was conducted, after which Maruthamuthu's body was handed over to his family members.
