SHRC seeks report from collector, CEO on death of girl

State Human Rights Commission(SHRC) has sought report from Trichy district collector and chief educational officer on the death of 12-year-old schoolgirl, R Ilakkiya, on Friday. The class VII student in CSI Methodist girls higher secondary school, fell from stairs in her school on Friday June 07. She died in government hospital in Trichy without responding to treatment. However, parents and her fellow classmates blamed the school teachers for delaying treatment after she fell. Taking suo moto cognisance from news report on the incident, the SHRC has sought report within two weeks. When Ilakkiya was battling for life, her classmates along with fellow classmates approached district collector seeking action against schoolteacher.
