Man murders wife in front of children, surrenders

Vadodara: A man murdered his wife and then walked into a police station to surrender in Halol town in Panchmahal on Monday. Prithviraj Chauhan suspected his wife was having an affair with another man, and killed her at their residence.According to police, Chauhan married Deepika and the couple lived in Halol. While Chauhan worked at a scrap godown, Deepika worked for a private company. They had a 17-year-old son and a 14-year-old daughter. Deepika allegedly got close to Chauhan’s nephew, Aakash, and purportedly entered a relationship with him.A few months ago, ostensibly Chauhan learned that Deepika had another mobile phone, and checked it. He ostensibly found her chats with Akash and confronted her. The couple had arguments for several days. Their families also intervened but Chauhan’s suspicions remained..On Monday, Chauhan came home and suddenly attacked Deepika. He first strangled her with bare hands and then stabbed her several times in front of their children. The accused then called his father and told him about the crime he had committed. His father told him to surrender to the police, after which he went to the police station.
