Activists burn Mamata Banerjee’s effigy over WB violence, seek her arrest
Varanasi: Outraged by the violent protests over Waqf Act in Murshidabad, West Bengal, social activists, including women from Vishal Bharat Sansthan (VBS) took to streets at Lamahi village on Monday, demanding the dismissal and arrest of WB Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Buring an effigy of the CM, the protesters alleged that while the country is celebrating the birth anniversary of the architect of India's Constitution, Baba Saheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the West Bengal CM is openly disregarding him."In Murshidabad, under the pretext of opposing the Waqf Bill, infiltrating Bangladeshi Muslims set fire to Hindu homes, committed atrocities against Hindu women, and harmed children. The plight of helpless Hindus is evident in West Bengal, with the govt openly supporting the violence. Due to the severe violence in Murshidabad, Hindus are being forced to flee," said a protester.Holding placards that read ‘Save the Hindus', ‘Waqf Bill is an excuse, the country's Hindus are the target', and ‘Arrest Mamata Banerjee,' the protesting women alleged that Mamata Banerjee does not understand the pain of women and children and is only working for vote banks.VBS President Rajeev Shriguruji said that West Bengal has become unsafe for Hindus, who are being openly killed under some pretext or the other. Hindu women are being raped. In their own country, Hindus are falling victim to Islamic jihad. Arabs, Turks, Mughals, and now Bangladeshi Muslims are oppressing Hindus. This will only be curbed when unrestrained leaders like Mamata are sent to jail, he said. Nazneen Ansari, the President of Muslim Mahila Foundation, said that West Bengal has become a centre for human rights violations against Hindus. The cries of Hindus will dig Mamata Banerjee's political grave, he added.
