VIJAYAWADA: The high court bid a warm farewell to retiring judge, Justice Kongara Vijaya Lakshmi, on Monday. As a customary practice, justice Vijaya shared the bench with chief justice Prashant Kumar Mishra on her last working day.

In a span of five years as judge of the high court, she decided 9,700 cases.

CJ Mishra said Justice Vijaya shone in her career right from her college days, from topping her law exam, to excelling as advocate, assistant government pleader, government pleader, additional advocate general, chairperson of juvenile justice committee, and finally as judge of the high court, she left her mark everywhere.

Thanking everyone for their cooperation, Justice Vijaya said she had a satisfying career which started in the year 1985 when she enrolled as an advocate.

She thanked her teachers, mentors, and family members for imbibing moral values in her. Advocate general S Sriram, bar council president Ganta Rama Rao, and assistant solicitor general N Haranath lauded the services rendered by Justice Vijaya.
