Four ganja peddlers arrested in two separate incidents

Visakhapatnam: In a major haul, Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district police seized around 575 kg of dry cannabis worth over 50 lakh in two separate incidents on Thursday. The cops arrested four drug peddlers and seized two SUVs and six mobile phones from their possession.
In the first incident, Pedabayalu police seized 455 kg of ganja and arrested two drug peddlers when the duo was transporting the weed in an SUV near Rogulapeta locality. The gang procured the weed from remote areas to transport to other places. Investigation is underway to nab a few others in connection with the case, the cops said.
Similarly, Munchingiput police seized 120 kg of dry cannabis and nabbed two women when they were transporting the weed in an SUV near Munchingput. The arrested have been identified as Silakamma Mandi (29) and Kanthamma Khara (25), both are native of Paduva locality in Odisha. However, the driver managed to flee from the spot.
It may be recalled that about a week ago, ASR district police seized 860 kg of dry cannabis worth over 50 lakh from an abandoned vehicle and arrested one Chenda Ananda Rao near Asarada junction of Vanagummi village under Munchingput.
