11-year-old mute girl 'raped' by 2 minor boys in Vizag

VISAKHAPATNAM: In a shocking incident, a 11-year-old mute girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by two minor boys (16 years age group) under Dwaraka police station limits in Vizag city on Sunday evening. The incident came to light when the victim's parents approached the police and lodged a complaint against the accused. In a swift reaction to the complaint, the police registered a case and nabbed the accused boys on Sunday night. The accused boys are the neighbours of the victim.The police said they have registered a case under section 70 (2) (gang rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and related sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act- 2012. The victim girl was shifted to hospital for medical tests and treatment Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Dr Shanka Brata Bagchi said that both the accused in the case have been arrested, and further investigation is on.(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
