EAST GODAVARI: Three people were killed and five others injured after two cars collided on a national highway near Ernagudem in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, police said. Further details are awaited. In a separate incident, a private travel bus was gutted by fire after a rear tyre burst near Tarapuram in Ramabhadrapuram mandal of Vizianagaram district on March 21. All 37 passengers on board escaped unhurt. According to rural station official CI Srinivas Bobbili, “The Odisha Travels bus, en route from Bhubaneswar to Malkajgiri, suddenly went up in flames after the tyre explosion triggered a fire. Acting swiftly, the driver immediately stopped the vehicle and ensured all passengers were evacuated safely.” Initial reports said Mangu Khilla, MLA from Chitrakonda constituency in Odisha (INC), was among the passengers and is safe.
