5 faint after inhaling chemical compound

Visakhapatnam: Five workers, including three women, were hospitalised after they fell unconscious while shifting acetanilide (a crystalline odourless powder) from a container to a truck in the godown of Shravan Shippings in Vizag city on Friday night.The victims were identified as Gunupur Ramu, Bobbili Lakshmi, G Latha, Pothala Kumari, and G Demudu Naidu. They were initially admitted to Simhagiri hospital. Later, following district collector MN Harendhira Prasad’s instructions, they were shifted to KIMS Icon hospital. Demudu Naidu, who was initially critical upon hospitalisation, responded positively to treatment. The condition of all five is stable now.Officials suspect the five workers fell ill after inhaling some chemical compound while shifting the acetanilide. Vizag collector Prasad, city police chief Shankabratha Bagchi, and Visakha West MLA PVGR Naidu visited the hospital to check the condition of the victims. Gajuwaka police have registered a case and launched investigation.

Five workers from a shipping company in Vizag City fell ill after allegedly inhaling a chemical while moving it from a container to a godown. The workers are receiving treatment at a hospital in Gajuwaka and are stable. Vizag City Police chief Shanka Brata Bagchi visited them, and officials are investigating the incident's cause.

Collector seeks report on condition of roads

District collector NSK Umesh held a meeting with various departments, including Kochi corporation, PWD, and NHAI, to review the condition of roads in Kochi. He requested status reports detailing potholes filled and those yet to be addressed. The Kochi corporation reported filling potholes on 70 roads, while PWD awaits approval for repairs on interior roads.

LG visited site where trees were felled without permission: AAP

The AAP has accused Lt. Governor VK Saxena of visiting the Satbari Ridge site, where 1,100 trees were illegally felled, without proper permission. Affidavits suggest senior officials were either complicit in or unaware of the illegal actions. The LG's office has not yet responded to these serious allegations.
