Five held in fake passport racket

ELURU: A five-member gang, including a Sri Lankan national, that changed fingerprint impressions and made

fake

passports for people in order to deceive immigration authorities at airports, was arrested by West Godavari police.


According to West Godavari SP Navadeep Singh Grewal, Bokka Rambabu from

Palacole mandal

in West Godavari had undergone an operation while in Kuwait between 2012 and 2015 to change the fingerprints on both his hands. Rambabu later met one Raja Reddy from Guduru in Nellore district who made fake passports and visas for Gulf countries by altering fingerprints, with the help of some Sri Lankan nationals. Rambabu enlisted the help of a private medical practitioner Thrimurhtulu from Baggeswaram in

West Godavari district

, who would conduct the operations for changing fingerprints.

Police also arrested one Shaik Mohammad Muzaffar and a Sri Lankan national and Mohammad Farooq for conducting operations to change fingerprints and sending people to Gulf countries. tnn
