Andhra Pradesh: 4 workers injured in mishap at pharma factory in Anakapalle district

VISAKHAPATNAM: At least four workers suffered injuries in an accident at Synergene Active Ingredients Private Limited, a pharmaceutical unit, within the Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City, in Andhra Pradesh's Anakapalle district on Thursday night.


The injured workers, hailing from Jharkhand, were shifted to a corporate hospital in Vizag city. The condition of one of the injured workers is said to be critical.

The exact reasons for the mishap are yet to be ascertained. Sources said that the mishap occurred when the workers were preparing a solvent by mixing two chemicals.

Home minister V Anitha and Anakapalle MP CM Ramesh will visit the corporate hospital to meet the injured workers on Friday.

It may be recalled that a mishap at the Escientia Advanced Sciences Private Ltd in the Special Economic Zone at Atchutapuram in Anakapalle district on Wednesday claimed 17 lives and caused injuries to 36 workers. The state government announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 crore to the kin of the deceased, Rs 50 lakh for the severely injured, and Rs 25 lakh for those who suffered minor injuries.
