Incessant rains damage roads in ASR district

Visakhapatnam: Incessant rain in several parts of Alluri Sitarama Raju district has severely affected the road and communication networks in the district. The main road from GK Veedhi to Seeleru, which connects four states including Telangana, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Andhra Pradesh, is in a very bad state. The severe damage to this interstate road has cut off around 160 villages from the outside world. While incidents of bridge collapse was reported in seven places, landslides were reported in 15 places and engineers estimate that it may take around 10 days to restore vehicular movement on this road.A woman named Sumitra, who got injured in a landslide at Chatrayipalli area in GK Veedhi mandal, had to be treated at Sapparla PHC with temporary bandages due to the lack of equipment and road connectivity to the Chintapalli Area Hospital. ITDA project officer Abhishek stated that apart from the 45-km stretch, most of the main roads are accessible to the public, thanks to the necessary arrangements made by authorities. However, removing boulders on the stretch has become a challenging task due to continuous landslides. The Chintapalli to Narsipatnam road has also been damaged, with the Madigunta causeway getting washed away. Alternative arrangements have been made for the safe passage of vehicles.

Four individuals sustained injuries while three others went missing due to landslides in Chatrapalle tribal hamlet under GK Veedhi mandal in Alluri Sitarama Raju district. Heavy rains over the past two days caused these landslides. Villagers have rescued four people and are continuing their search for the missing, urging authorities to conduct a search and rescue operation.

Kapkot in Bageshwar hit by recurrent landslides, roads blocked

Ongoing landslides in Bageshwar's Kapkot region have led to the closure of the Kapkot-Karmi motor road, disrupting daily life. Traffic has been rerouted via an 80-km alternative route. The State Disaster Response Force is helping stranded individuals, but continuous debris fall complicates efforts to clear the blocked roads.
