Who is Priyadarshini Mallick? TMC leader Jyotipriya's daughter removed from post of WBCHSE secretary
Priyadarshini Mallick, daughter of former West Bengal minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Jyotipriya Mallick, has been removed from her position as secretary of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE), the body responsible for conducting Higher Secondary examinations in the state.
According to an IANS report citing an official letter, she was earlier asked to resign as part of a departmental restructuring exercise. However, she did not step down from the post, after which the council decided to remove her.
Her name had also surfaced during the Enforcement Directorate’s probe into the alleged Public Distribution System (PDS) scam involving her father, Jyotipriya Mallick, who was arrested in 2023.
Earlier ED findings had raised questions over alleged earnings of Rs 3.37 crore through private tuition in a single financial year, though these claims are part of ongoing investigations and allegations.
The state government has also reportedly advised her to return to her earlier position as an assistant professor at Asutosh College in Kolkata.
