RAIPUR: In a scathing attack on the Congress party, BJP President J P Nadda accused them of political opportunism, citing their change in attitude towards Lord Ram.
Speaking at a rally in Arang constituency of Raipur, Nadda said that the Congress, once labeling Lord Ram as a fictional character, is now invoking his name to garner votes.
Nadda said the Congress party is synonymous with scam, embezzlement, loot, and cheating, asserting that their image evolves over time.
He noted the recent trend of some Congress members adopting the label of 'Janeu-dhari' while questioning their understanding of the associated rituals.
The BJP president highlighted a historical perspective, recalling that during the UPA government, Congress submitted an affidavit in court claiming that Lord Ram was a fictional character devoid of scientific and historical basis. He remarked on the apparent shift in their approach, as they now visit temples and adopt the identity of Ram Bhakts to connect with voters.
Nadda criticized the Congress for taunting the BJP regarding the construction date of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, responding confidently with the assertion that the temple would be constructed on the scheduled date.
Taking a swipe at the Congress, Nadda outlined the party's negative traits, associating it with corruption, scams, atrocities, infringement of rights, and deceit. In contrast, he positioned the BJP as a party focused on development, growth, women's empowerment, farmers' welfare, and the protection of rights.

Nadda further questioned the Bhupesh Baghel government, accusing it of involvement in alleged scams related to the Mahadev betting app, liquor, public service commission, and cow dung procurement. He invited the public to reflect on the Congress's track record, referencing submarine, helicopter, and coal scams during the UPA government.
The BJP president concluded by emphasizing the distinction between the BJP's commitment to progress and the Congress's history of corruption and mismanagement, urging voters to consider this difference in the upcoming Chhattisgarh assembly elections.
