RAIPUR: Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday attacked the Congress government in Chhattisgarh over corruption and for being a 'zero when it came to carrying out development. During a rally, Singh also pledged action against corruption cases should the BJP come to power in the upcoming assembly elections.
"The people of Chhattisgarh are distressed by the corruption and scandals of the Congress government.
He said 'Mahadev' has decided that the Congress government will be ousted. This was in an apparent reference to the controversial Mahadev online betting scam that has surfaced in the midst of assembly elections with allegations of politicians and others benefiting from the betting racket.
Referring to the alleged PSC scam in Chhattisgarh, Rajnath said that if the BJP forms the government in the state, it will investigate and punish the accused.
The defense minister emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the stature of India has risen. Those who did not take India seriously have started respecting the nation. The country's borders are secure. Earlier, terrorists used to infiltrate Pakistan anytime, but after Modi became the Prime Minister, surgical strikes and air strikes are now happening.
Raising the issue of alleged religious conversion in Chhattisgarh during the Congress government, the Union minister said "After our government is formed, we will put a stop to it," he said. He also slammed the Congress government over law and order, stating that incidents of murder and violence are increasing rapidly. The daughters of poor families are shockingly disappearing from home, and human trafficking and the drug business are increasing rapidly. Congress needs to be exposed here, he said.
If the BJP government is formed in Chhattisgarh, within two years, tap connections will be provided to all homes. The BJP government is sensitive to tribals, he added.
