NDA, BJP, UDF lead as counting progresses across four states
Votes are being counted across Assam, West Bengal, Puducherry, and Kerala, with leads shifting as rounds come in. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat house, NDA has won 28 seats and is leading in 69 more, taking its tally to 97, well past the majority mark on current trends. Congress-led opposition is leading in 22 seats with no wins declared yet, giving it a tally of 22. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 7 in Assam. In West Bengal, BJP holds a tally of 179 across 11 won seats and leads in 168, crossing the majority mark of 148 in the 294-seat assembly if those leads hold. TMC has won 2 seats and is leading in 104, putting its tally at 106. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in 8 seats in West Bengal. Puducherry, with a majority mark of 16 in its 30-seat house, sees NDA ahead with 13 seats won and 5 more where it is leading, for a tally of 18. SPA has a tally of 5, with 2 seats won and 3 leads. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 7 in Puducherry. In Kerala, UDF leads the 140-seat contest with 68 seats won and 19 more where it is ahead, bringing its tally to 87 against a majority mark of 71. LDF has won 30 seats and is leading in 6, giving it a tally of 36. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 17 in Kerala.
