PRAYAGRAJ: The fate of 169 candidates contesting from 12 assembly seats of Prayagraj district will be locked in electronic voting machines (EVMs) as a total of 46,27,545 voters, including 25.16 lakh males, 21.10 lakh females and 652 transgenders are also set to cast their vote at 2,236 polling centers and 5,080 polling booths on Sunday.
Allahabad West has the highest 4,58,876 voters, followed by Allahabad North 4,41,912, Allahabad South 4,08036, Phulpur 4,07,493, Pratappur 4,06,232, Handia 4,00,400, Soroan 3,79,190, Phaphamau 3,65,218, Koraon 3,51,311, Karchana 3,49,373, Bara 3,34,275 and Meja 3,25,229.
The maximum number of voters has increased in Allahabad South seat where a total of 5,401 voters have increased followed by 4,583 voters added to the list in Allahabad West besides 3,675 voters increased in Allahabad North. Likewise, in rural areas, maximum 2,495 voters have increased in Karachana while the lowest count of voters has increased by 440 in Meja constituency during the recent voters revision exercise.
While highest 25 candidates are fray from Pratappur (25) followed by Phaphamau (21), Phulpur(15), Meja (14), Allahabad South (13), Koraon (12), Bara (12), Karchana (12),Karchana (12), Handia (12) , Soraon (12) and Allahabad North (9).
The list of polling booths also included Phaphamau (410), Soraon (451), Phulpur (463), Pratappur ( 459), Handia (438), Meja (375), Karchana (380), Allahabad North (443), Allahabad West (453), Allahabad South (404), Bara (401) and Koraon (403).
Moreover, a total of 47 zonal magistrates and 378 sector magistrates have also been appointed at all 12 assembly seats of the district. A senior district election officer told TOI that there are a total of 351 critical polling centres while the number of critical polling booths were 759. Majority of critical polling booths are located in Allahabad West assembly seat.
Interestingly, district election office has also arranged the facility of web casting at as many as 3072 polling booths and videography would be conducted at 240 polling booths. Election department has also roped in a total of 351 micro-observers in all 12 assembly seats.
A senior police officer said that adequate security arrangements have been made for the polling and additional forces have also been deployed at critical polling centres and polling booths.
